Rogers Wrangles Exclusive Rights to PS Vita 3G Connectivity in Canada

After a little over six months since the worldwide release of the Playstation Vita, Sony Computer Entertainment Canada finally named which mobile carrier will provide service for the 3G-enabled version of the Vita when it hits retailers here. If you were hoping for some kind of competitive options, well, I don’t want to sound insulting, so I’ll just offer a friendly reminder. Have you seen the level of telecom competition in Canada? Exactly. Rogers Communications will be the exclusive Canadian carrier “taking care” of 3G Vita owners’ needs; not all that surprising, considering it is AT&T’s partner carrier in Canada.

The telecom giant will be offering two options– a 250MB 30-day data package for $15 a month or a 5GB 30-day data package for $35 a month. The good news is that both are available month-to-month, with no longer term contract. So if you find that you don’t really have much use for the service, or that, somehow, you only use a maximum of 250MB of data per month, you can switch without any of the headaches or charges the company’s contract clients face upon cancellation.

The Playstation Vita 3G/Wi-Fi Launch Bundle will be launching in Canada, on October 2nd, for $299.99 CAD.
